24 hours after surgery updates...

The last 24 hours of updates on Aiden...

Aiden is struggling with pain management tonight in PICU. He is so sad whimpering constantly and occasionally screaming in pain :( They have upped all pain meds but still no relief yet. He's looking pretty rough and has bruises EVERYWHERE from where they tried to get lines in today. Oh my sweet boy. One difference we have noticed already though...we can HEAR Aiden cry now! He's always had a very weak muffled cry to the point that sometimes we can't hear him crying from the next room. My husband and I were shocked when he let out his first cry tonight after surgery...boy does he have a set of lungs!! But he is in a significant amount of pain and it's hard to watch him have to endure this. I keep telling him this will make him feel soooo much better and hopefully we can snuggle tomorrow.

Aiden is doing better today with pain management. He is still struggling in other areas but overall he is doing great! He is extubated and breathing room air. He is getting pain meds about every hour but we are slowly decreasing them because he also needs to be alert to eat and continue breathing well. We had a S-C-A-R-Y night last night with Aiden having some apparent seizures and he began havingdifficulty swallowing which caused him to panic quite a bit. It was tough watching him struggle so much but he's a bit calmer today. Still choking and gagging some but we are watching him closely and he was able to have a little bit of breastmilk early this morning. We are hoping he is transferred today out of the ICU onto a regular floor. Considering everything Aiden has been through though, I think it's safe to say he's doing great! He's definitely doing better than what anyone anticipated! So thankful and praising God always!

Aiden just saved his first post op smiles for his Daddy...melts my heart! He is his Daddy's boy! He went from whiny and lethargic this morning to smiley and playful with Daddy(until the pain meds wore off, now Daddy is taking duty comforting him so I can eat and nap)!
